Electron Spin Resonance Spectra of Natural Amethyst

Abstract

|
ESR Studies were performed on a natural amethyst from Unyang in Korea. Complex angular dependent ESR spectra were obtained at room temperature using X-band(9.541 GHz) spectrometer of Varian model E112. These spectra contain three groups; a group of Feat fine structure signal, angular independent group on a-b plane and b-c plane, remainder complex group. The first group was identified fine structure of Feat ion substituted for Sist in a-quartz by the spin Hamiltonjan´=RH?g?S+D(S22z? 12 )+ 2.E(SZt+S2-)+ 15 F(S4z 94 SZz? 16
with g=2.0032, D=-2.0463, E=5.5277, F=-o.0282 GHz.
